Oh yeah! Let’s talk about it. Pixies are so small they can only feel one emotion at a time and what a curse and blessing that much be! Think of how complicated it is to have conflicting emotions and how easy it would be to feel just one thing and be able to focus on addressing just that one thing………. So when it’s happy it’s just happy, content, blessed, excited, amused, satiated, but then also, sad, anxious, angry, consumed. Ick. That’s the issue though isn’t it? When we feel anyone thing too deeply or intensely it consumes us. Like an eclipse, the ability to even address the emotion with awareness goes out the window in favor of impulsive reactionary behaviors to eliminate negative emotions.
Ever try to drive on a wheel with a piece missing? No that wouldn’t work: neither does living without anyone emotion entirely. It just doesn’t work and there will be this bumpy part because there’s something missing. The complexity of multiple emotions also becomes a breeding ground for change opportunities. It’s often times leveraging one emotion with another that helps us to become unstuck; like hippos. They lean against each other when exiting water otherwise their cute dangerous tubby little butts tip over.
Attention is not bad: being mindful of how we receive it and who is giving it to us is also a very necessary. Making sure I am providing myself enough attention is an ongoing challenge. Giving myself permission to consider myself first: to check in with Tink: then remember I’m not a pixie: what else is there? How do I make space for these conflicting feelings? Desires? Fears? Etc.
In this talking to the self I am providing the attention I so desperately need. The understanding that I want from others, the compassion, the patience, the love, care, support, time, energy, all of it. Showing up.
I used to say sames: now I say nahhh. Healing more and more everyday in every way.
